SSPHO Board Member: Submit your application
As announced at the General Assembly 2026, the SSPHO Board is seeking to appoint a new board member. This role offers the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of SSPHO, work alongside committed colleagues, and play a part in shaping the direction of our community.
Candidate profile - Applications are open to all ordinary members, including candidates in the Young Investigator category. Preference will be given to applicants representing a site that is not currently part of the board, in order to further strengthen its diversity and expertise.
Application process - applications can be sent in by email to info@sspho.chuntil April 10th, 2026. A brief statement outlining your motivation, together with a short CV or summary of your background, is sufficient.

New Elected Chair of SIOPE Host Genome Working Group
We are pleased to share that Nicolas Waespe, SSPHO board member, has recently been elected Chair of the Host Genome Working Group of the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE).
The SIOPE Host Genome Working Group brings together experts across Europe to advance research and clinical expertise on cancer predisposition syndromes (CPS), which account for a considerable proportion of childhood cancers. The group focuses on improving identification, diagnosis, surveillance, counselling, and treatment strategies for children with genetic cancer predisposition, while strengthening collaboration between clinicians, researchers, and family support organisations.
We thank Nicolas Waespe for the commitment and contribution to advancing this important field within the European paediatric oncology community.
«Zurich Pediatric Transplant Symposium»
The Zurich Pediatric Transplant Symposium which will take place on Friday, 19 June 2026 at the University Children’s Hospital in Zurich.
The focus of the symposium is on post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) which remains a serious complication of immunosuppression in children. Prevention, early detection and tailored treatment are essential for better outcomes. The symposium features expert lectures, interactive case discussions, and networking with specialists in heart, kidney, liver, and stem cell transplantation. This meeting encourages collaboration and knowledge exchange among colleagues from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and beyond.

PanCare Meeting 2026 in Basel
The 32nd PanCare meeting will take place in Basel from 23–25 September 2026, hosted by Katrin Scheinemann and Maria Otth from the Stiftung Ostschweizer Kinderspital at Hotel Odelya.
Participants can look forward to an interactive programme featuring presentations and discussions on different aspects of survivorship care. Planned topics include updates on ongoing research, European grant initiatives, survivorship care developments in Switzerland, and recent activities within PanCare.
